The artificial island of Odaiba came out of the waters in the 19th century by Tokugawa order. While originally a set of fortresses meant to protect the city of Edo (Formerly Tokyo), it is now a popular area for shopping and entertainment. It is ripe with many shopping centers, cinemas and museums, all under the watchful eye of a 18-meter high Gundam (a manga robot).
The district of Odaiba will host the IBC, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics as well as the new climbing and 3 x 3 basketball venues.
The island is accessible by public transport from the Yurikamome and Rinkai lines as well as by the very impressive Rainbow Bridge which offers a wonderful view over Tokyo and its bay. It is therefore better to choose a well connected destination nearer the city center. VPI advises you to find your suitable location in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic Games – contact us. NEWS
